Working Principle of Solenoid Valves 5 The working mechanism of solenoid valves is quite simple, but has a great impact in application. The valves are activated when electrical energy is applied and create a magnetic field. This magnetic field moves the metal core inside the valve, opening or closing the passageway of the fluid. In models designed as Normally Open (NA), the flow of fluid stops when the electric current is cut off. When electrical energy is applied, the core is pulled up, allowing the fluid to pass. This feature provides high security and control in systems.
