Solenoid Valve – High Performance Flow Control
The solenoid valves we offer at ORFA Industrial Products Industry and Trade Inc. offer reliable and efficient solutions for fluid control. Designed to precisely manage liquid and gas flow, these valves are used in a wide range of applications, from industrial automation systems and water treatment plants to ventilation systems and hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
Solenoid valves operate on electromechanical principles, converting electrical energy into magnetic energy to create mechanical motion. The valve's core controls fluid flow by opening or closing the orifice. Normally closed, this valve opens when power is applied, allowing fluid flow. When power is removed, it stops the flow, providing a safe closure.

Solenoid Valve Working Principle
Solenoid valves convert electrical energy into magnetic energy, creating mechanical motion and thus controlling the fluid (liquid or gas). This basic principle is based on an electromechanical system, where the valve is opened or closed via electrical signals.
1. Electromagnetic Effect
At the heart of the operating mechanism of a solenoid valve is a solenoid coil. When an electrical signal is sent to the valve, a magnetic field is generated around the coil's windings. This magnetic field activates the ferromagnetic core (plunger) inside the valve. Depending on whether the valve is normally closed or normally open, the core opens the orifice, allowing fluid to flow, or closes it, stopping the flow.
2. Normally Closed Structure
In valves with this structure, when no electrical energy is applied, the valve remains closed, preventing fluid flow. When energy is applied to the coil, the core moves upward under the influence of the magnetic field, opening the orifice and allowing fluid flow.
3. Pilot-Controlled System
The majority of solenoid valves are designed to be pilot-operated. In these valves, the main valve gate is controlled by a small pilot valve. Pilot-operated valves can control large amounts of fluid with a small electrical signal in larger flow rates and high-pressure systems. Pilot-operated valves generally offer higher performance with lower power consumption and are particularly preferred in industrial applications.
4. Flow Control
Solenoid valves operate to allow or block the flow of fluid. When electrical energy is applied to the coil, the core moves, opening or closing the orifice. This movement controls flow, either directly or indirectly, depending on the type of valve. For example, a 2/2-way valve has two ports and two positions: open or closed. This structure allows the valve to control a single flow path in a simple manner.
5. Advantages and Reliability
The operating principle of solenoid valves contributes to their fast response time, compact size, and high reliability. Controlled by electrical signals, these valves can instantly open or close fluid flow, a significant advantage especially in emergency situations and automated control systems. Furthermore, the operating principle of solenoid valves allows for high performance with low energy consumption.
Areas of Use
Solenoid valves are ideal for precise flow control in industrial processes. These valves are effectively used in water treatment systems, chemical transfer applications, and gas and steam systems. They also offer high performance and reliability in HVAC applications such as ventilation, heating, and cooling systems, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
ORFA Industrial 's solenoid valves are ideal for meeting all kinds of industrial needs with their durable structure, long-lasting performance and wide range of uses.
