General Purpose Solenoid Valve – High Performance and Reliable Flow Control
The General Purpose Solenoid Valve, offered by ORFA Industrial Products Industry and Trade Inc., is a high-performance, reliable flow control element powered by electric current. Developed to precisely regulate the flow of liquids and gases, these valves are widely used in industrial, commercial, and automotive applications. This product, distinguished by its compact design and durable construction, provides superior performance, particularly in systems requiring high pressure.
The General Purpose Solenoid Valve mechanically controls fluid flow using an electromagnetic coil. Its normally closed (NC) design opens when power is applied and stops flow when the current is interrupted, ensuring safe operation. Its ease of use and rapid response time increase system efficiency, making it an essential component of automatic control mechanisms.

Basic Components and Function of a Solenoid Valve
A solenoid valve basically consists of three main components:
Solenoid Coil: Creates a magnetic field by operating with electric current.
Core (Piston): It moves under the influence of the magnetic field coming from the coil and controls the flow by opening and closing the valve.
Valve Body and Diaphragm: This forms the area through which the fluid passes. The diaphragm moves with the pressure difference, allowing the flow to be opened or closed.
Normally Closed Solenoid Valve Working Principle
Initial State (Closed Position): In the absence of electric current, the solenoid valve coil is not energized. In this position, the core (piston) is held down by the spring force, preventing fluid flow. The valve remains in the closed position.
Applying Electric Current to the Coil: When electric current is applied to the coil to operate the solenoid valve, a magnetic field is created around the coil. This magnetic field causes the piston to move upward.
Valve Opening: As the piston moves upward, the fluid orifice (opening) opens, allowing fluid to flow through the valve. This movement creates a pressure difference, which in turn raises the internal diaphragm, allowing the valve to fully open.
Continuous Flow: Fluid can flow freely in the specified direction within the valve body. During this time, the coil continues to be supplied with electric current, and the magnetic field remains constant.
Valve Closing: When the electric current is interrupted, the magnetic field in the coil disappears. The spring force then pushes the core downward, closing the orifice and stopping flow. The valve returns to its original closed position.
Solenoid Valve Selection Criteria
Working Voltage: A coil must be selected that is appropriate to the electrical voltage of the system in which the solenoid valve will be used (AC or DC).
Pressure Values: For the valve to operate correctly, a selection must be made in accordance with the minimum and maximum pressure range in the system.
Fluid Type and Temperature : The durability and performance of solenoid valves vary depending on the type and temperature of the fluid.
Installation and Flow Direction: The direction of the fluid must be in the same direction as the arrow on the valve, otherwise the valve may not work properly.
Strainers: The line to which the valve is installed must be free of debris. System cleanliness is critical to the longevity of the valve.
Areas of Use
Automotive: Used in controlled transmission of fluids in engine systems.
Industrial Facilities: Provides a sensitive and reliable solution in liquid and gas control systems.
White Goods: Controls the cooling and water inlet-outlet systems in devices such as refrigerators and washing machines.
Agriculture: Provides fluid control in fertilization and irrigation processes in irrigation systems.
