Balance Piston Valve Working Principle
VALFTEK Balance Piston Valve is designed with a balance piston structure in order to eliminate flow resistance and opening-closing difficulties that may occur in large diameter and high pressure lines. The metal piston inside the valve body controls the flow by moving linearly with the movement of the shaft. This piston is positioned to be subjected to pressure from both directions. Thus, when the valve is opening or closing, the forces created by the fluid pressure balance each other.
Thanks to this design:
The need for torque applied by the operator is greatly reduced.
Opening-closing operations are more controlled, safer and smoother.
The risk of wear and gasket deformation is reduced, thus extending maintenance periods.
Asbestos-free stainless steel reinforced pure graphite rings used inside the body maintain sealing even under high temperatures (up to 400°C) and pressure. This balance piston system is standard on all models DN50 and above and is especially ideal for steam, superheated water and aggressive fluids.
