What is ESFR and How Does It Work?
ESFR differs from standard sprinklers. While the purpose of standard sprinklers is to control a fire and slow its spread, the purpose of ESFR is to directly suppress a fire at a very early stage by releasing water rapidly and at a high flow rate.
Very High K-Factor: The K-factor is very high (usually K14, K17, K22, etc.). A high K-factor means it provides significantly more water flow (liters/minute) than a standard sprinkler at the same pressure.
Fast Response: It responds to heat very quickly and is activated at an early stage.
Mounting Position: This model is usually of the pendent or upright type, but in ESFR applications the pendent type is generally used in high-ceilinged warehouses.
