Elegance and Efficiency in Flow Control: Butterfly Valves
Butterfly Valves
Butterfly valves offered by ORFA Industrial provide high efficiency in industrial fluid control systems with their compact structure, low pressure drop, and fast opening and closing in a quarter turn. Thanks to their lightweight body design, both installation and maintenance processes are practical and economical.
Butterfly Valves: Description and Operating Principle
A butterfly valve is a type of valve that operates by a circular disc placed inside the pipeline rotating around its own axis. Flow control is achieved by rotating the disc 90° using a shaft.
- Open Position: The disk is parallel to the direction of flow, and flow is free.
- Closed Position: The disc is perpendicular to the flow direction, and the line is completely closed.
Advantages of Butterfly Valves
- Lightweight and compact design
- Energy efficiency with low pressure loss.
- Quick on/off (quarter turn)
- Easy assembly and maintenance.
- Long-lasting and durable structure.
Assembly and Control Types
- Wafer Tip: Mounted by being clamped between flanges.
- Lug Tip: Secured to the line with a bolted connection.
- Control Options: Manual, geared, pneumatic, and electric actuator.
Areas of Application
Butterfly valves are reliably used in a very wide range of industrial applications:
- Water and wastewater treatment plants
- HVAC systems
- power plants
- Chemical and petrochemical plants
- Food and beverage industry
- Shipping and industrial process lines
