Normally Open Solenoid Valve Working Principle
Coil Generates a Magnetic Field: The coil, the heart of a normally open solenoid valve, is formed by winding a conducting wire. When an electric current is applied to this coil, a magnetic field is created around it. This magnetic field moves the plunger inside the valve.
Plunger Movement: The core, moved by the magnetic field, opens or closes the valve. When electricity is applied to the coil, the core is pulled upward, and this movement opens the valve's orifice (hole), allowing fluid to flow. When the electricity is removed, the spring force returns the core to its original position, closing the valve and stopping the flow. This simple yet effective mechanism allows control of liquids or gases.
Pilot-Operated Solenoid Valve: Pilot-operated solenoid valves use fluid pressure in the line to open or close the valve. In this type of valve, instead of the core directly controlling the main fluid line, a control chamber is located in the valve's upper chamber. The core controls fluid flow through a small opening in the control chamber. The control chamber increases or decreases pressure on the main diaphragm. When pressure decreases, the diaphragm lifts, opening the main valve opening and allowing fluid in. When pressure increases, the diaphragm closes, stopping flow. This system provides high fluid control with low energy consumption.
Normally Open Solenoid Valve (NO): When the coil is not energized, the valve is open, allowing fluid flow. When energized, the valve closes, stopping fluid flow.
