Float Steam Trap Technical Information:
SK-50 Float Steam Traps not only discharge the float, but also utilize a thermostatic capsule within the body to evacuate air. This feature prevents water hammer caused by air accumulation in the pipeline. If the float malfunctions for any reason, the thermostatic capsule activates to continue condensate drainage and prevent system blockages.
SK-50 Float Steam Trap Thermostatic Air Vent Working Principle
Float Mechanism:
The SK-50 Float Steam Trap continuously discharges condensate thanks to its internal float mechanism. When condensate (condensed steam) enters the trap, the float's buoyancy increases, causing it to move upward.
When the float moves upward, the drain valve opens, discharging the condensate. As the condensate drains, the float's buoyancy decreases, and the float moves downward again, closing the drain valve. This process repeats itself continuously, depending on the amount of condensate.
Thermostatic Air Vent:
The thermostatic capsule inside the SK-50 Float Steam Trap evacuates air from the pipeline. When the steam system is first started or restarted after a shutdown, air accumulates in the pipeline. The thermostatic capsule operates by detecting temperature differences. The air in the pipeline is at a lower temperature than the steam. The thermostatic capsule detects and evacuates air accumulations, preventing water hammer and inefficiency. If the float malfunctions for any reason, the thermostatic capsule activates to continue condensate removal and prevent system clogging.
Preventing Water Hammers:
Air purging allows air accumulated in the pipeline to be quickly expelled. This prevents water hammer (vibrations and noise caused by sudden pressure changes) and ensures more efficient system operation.
