Float Trap Technical Information:
SK-50 Float Traps, in addition to the float that performs the discharge function, also performs air discharge with the thermostatic capsule inside the body. This feature prevents water hammer caused by air accumulation in the pipeline. If the float loses its function for any reason, the thermostatic capsule activates and continues the condensate discharge and prevents blockage in the system.
SK-50 Float Trap Thermostatic Air Release Working Principle
Float Mechanism:
SK-50 Float Steam Trap continuously discharges condensate thanks to the float mechanism inside. When condensate (condensed steam) enters the steam trap, the buoyancy of the float increases and the float moves upward.
When the float moves up, the drain valve opens and condensate is discharged. As the condensate is discharged, the buoyancy of the float decreases and the float moves downwards again, closing the discharge valve. This process is repeated continuously depending on the amount of condensate.
Thermostatic Air Vent:
SK-50 The thermostatic capsule inside the Float Trap evacuates the air in the pipeline. When the steam system is first started or restarted after stopping, air accumulates in the pipeline. The thermostatic capsule works by sensing temperature differences. The air in the pipeline is at a lower temperature than the temperature of the steam. The thermostatic capsule detects and evacuates air accumulation, preventing water hammer and inefficiency. When the float loses its function for any reason, the thermostatic capsule comes into play and continues the condensate discharge and prevents the system from clogging.
Preventing Ram Strikes:
Air evacuation ensures that air accumulated in the pipeline is quickly removed. This prevents water hammer (vibrations and noises caused by sudden pressure changes) and allows the system to operate more efficiently.
