The ionization electrode is a vital component that controls the burner's flame, detecting the presence or absence of flame and sending a signal to the burner's automatic control.
What is an Ionization Electrode and How Does It Work?
The ionization electrode detects the presence of a flame by using the electrical conductivity of ionized particles within the flame. When the flame ionizes the gas or fuel vapor, a very weak electric current (ionization current) is generated between the electrode and the burner body.
Ionization Electrode Working Principle:
Flame Detection: The burner automatic (brain) applies a small voltage between the electrode and ground (burner body).
Signal Generation: When the flame is formed, the electrical circuit is completed thanks to the ionized particles and the micro current (ionization current) created sends a signal to the burner automatic that the flame is present.
Safety Shutdown: If there is no flame or the current is cut off, the automatic control unit safely terminates burner operation.
Specific dimensions such as 8 x 85 mm ensure that the electrode fits perfectly to the burner model and produces a reliable signal by operating in the correct position.
