Expansion Tank Working Principle
Correct pressure is a prerequisite for the proper functioning of pressurized booster systems as well as heating, solar and cooling water systems. The expansion of the water volume due to heating or cooling causes an increase in pressure within the installation. NEMA NEQ Horizontal Type Expansion Tank balances this increase, ensuring the safety of the system and preventing damage caused by expansion.
The internal structure of the tank is quite simple: There is a flexible membrane inside, and thanks to this membrane, the water and the gas chamber are separated from each other. Thus, the penetration of gas into the water is prevented and the pressure in the system is maintained stably.
While the system is operating, the increasing water volume fills the water section of the tank; Meanwhile, the gas chamber compresses, balancing the pressure against the system. Thanks to the connection located at the top of the tank, water coming from the network or system is taken into the tank. Thanks to the gas pressure, water is sent back when the system is activated or during cooling, thus keeping the pressure under constant control.
The expansion tank does not require any electrical power or additional pump or compressor. With this feature, it offers both an economical and reliable solution.
