Ayvaz Pneumatic Actuator Single Acting PAD-20
ORFA Industrial Products Industry and Trade Inc. offers the Ayvaz Single-Acting Pneumatic Actuator PAD-20, a high-performance actuator designed for precise control of butterfly valves, ball valves, and dampers. Equipped with a rack-and-pinion gear system, this actuator offers an excellent solution for on-off and proportional control operations. Capable of operating with compressed air between 2 and 8 bar, this product is suitable for a wide range of applications.
Pneumatic Actuator Product Features
Continuous Position Indicator
The position of the actuator can be clearly monitored from any angle thanks to the 3D remote display.
Shaft Design
The nickel-plated steel shaft is designed in accordance with ISO5211, DIN3337 and NAMUR standards. This feature allows easy mounting of limit switches, positioners and other accessories.
High Body Protection
The ASTM 6005 quality aluminum extrusion body is reinforced with a hard anodized coating that resists chemical evaporation and corrosion. Nickel and PTFE coating options are available for extremely corrosive environments.
Pneumatic Actuator Cover Design
Aluminium injection moulded covers are protected against chemical evaporation and corrosion with oven-powdered epoxy or powdered polyester coatings. Nickel and PTFE-coated versions are optionally available for extremely corrosive conditions.
Pneumatic Actuator Piston Efficiency
Hard-anodized aluminum injection pistons are designed for long-lasting use. The symmetrical pistons can be repositioned to achieve reverse operating motion.
Working Angle Adjuster (Limit Stop)
The actuator position can be easily repositioned thanks to the bolts, which allow for independent adjustment of the 90° operating position by ± 5° in both directions. This feature is ideal for valve stem sprains and other special situations. Adjustable limit stops from 0 to 90° are also available.
Preloaded Springs
Corrosion-coated cartridge-type preload springs can be easily added to a standard single-acting actuator.
Pneumatic Actuator Bearing Elements
Bearing elements made of low-friction, long-life materials extend the operating life of the actuator and can be easily replaced if necessary.
Sealing Elements (O-Rings)
Nitrile rubber O-rings provide superior performance at standard operating temperatures. Options made of Viton for high temperatures and silicone for low temperatures are also available.

Pneumatic Actuator Working Principle
1. Starting Position:
A single-acting pneumatic actuator is held in its initial closed (or open) position by spring force. The spring is pre-tensioned inside the actuator, ready to reverse when any external force is applied.
2. Application of Compressed Air:
The actuator is operated by compressed air from an air source. This compressed air is forced into the piston chamber inside the actuator, which creates a force on the piston, moving it. This piston movement provides the rotational motion needed to open or close the valve or other mechanical equipment to which it is attached.
3. Mechanical Movement:
As compressed air pushes the piston forward, cam and gear systems on the piston convert this motion into a torque. This rotational motion moves the valve or other mechanical device attached to the actuator shaft to the desired position. In most single-acting pneumatic actuators, this motion is in the open direction.
4. Air Evacuation:
When the compressed air is released or the pressure decreases, the spring inside the actuator reactivates. The spring retracts the piston, returning the actuator to its initial position. This return motion is often used as a closing action.
5. Position Adjustment and Security:
In single-acting pneumatic actuators, the operating angle and position can be precisely adjusted using limit stop bolts on the device. This allows for easy correction of any potential buckling or misalignment during actuator operation. Furthermore, the spring-loaded return mechanism ensures the actuator returns to a safe position in the event of a failure in the air supply, a critical advantage especially in safety-critical applications.
6. Application Flexibility:
Single-acting pneumatic actuators offer energy savings because they have a simple design that uses only compressed air. Furthermore, the spring-loaded return mechanism ensures safe actuation and return without requiring any electrical power. This feature ensures the actuator can perform its function even in the event of a power outage or emergency.
Areas of Use
Single-Acting Pneumatic Actuators have a wide range of applications and are preferred in various industrial applications. Their primary applications include:
Industrial Automation Systems: Used safely in automation solutions that require precise control and high performance.
Water Treatment Plants: With its corrosion-resistant design, it offers long-lasting use in water treatment applications.
Chemical and Petrochemical Industry: Thanks to its chemical resistance, it provides superior performance in such harsh environments.
Food and Beverage Industry: Manufactured in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
HVAC Systems: Provides long-term use with low maintenance requirements in air conditioning and ventilation systems.
