The VALCOM Wafer Type Butterfly Valve DN40 is a compact valve solution designed to quickly and reliably control the flow of fluids such as water, air, gas and wastewater in industrial installations. With a nominal diameter of DN40 (1 1/2 in) , this valve is used in medium-sized lines.

What is a Wafer Butterfly Valve?

A butterfly valve is a quarter-turn valve that blocks flow by rotating a disc (clapper) 90 degrees around a vertical shaft. Its wafer-type design means the valve is sandwiched between two flanges in the pipeline, providing the advantages of light weight and easy installation.

Butterfly Valve Features and Advantages

• Body Material: The valve body is generally manufactured from durable cast material such as Ductile Iron (GGG40) .

• Valve (Disc) Material: Cast iron valve (usually nickel-plated ductile iron) is used. Cast iron valves provide high strength. However, stainless steel valves (AISI 304/316) are also available.

• Sealing Material: Sealing is provided by EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) seal, which provides high resistance to water and chemicals thanks to its elastomer structure.

• Pressure and Temperature: Maximum working pressure is typically PN16 (16 bar) . With an EPDM seal, the maximum working temperature is typically between 80°C and 120°C .

• Fast Control: It provides fast opening and closing thanks to its quarter-turn operating principle.

• Compact and Economical: It is a lighter, space-saving and economical solution compared to other valve types.

• Automation Compatibility: Since it has an ISO 5211 top flange, it can be controlled with pneumatic or electric actuators instead of a manual lever.
